"The Eucharist is 'the source and summit of the Christian life.' 'The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.'"
Catechism of the Catholic Church, p. 1324

PREPARING YOUTH FOR FIRST COMMUNION
According to Diocesan policies, students in Grade 2 are in the preparation stage for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, and this preparation happens through our Catholic school and through our Faith Formation Program. Parent meetings are held throughout the year, and the parent(s) are very involved in the preparation of their child(ren) for this sacrament.
The catechist - through religious education classes, and the Grade 2 Trinity Elementary School teacher(s) - through regular classroom instruction, each give an in-depth presentation on all aspects of doctrine and faith for this age level. First Holy Communion takes place in the Spring.
